The special projects editor will lead creative campaigns across Travel Weekly’s print magazine, website, social media and video platforms. You will get the chance to work with some of the biggest brands in the industry including airlines, cruise lines, hotels, tour operators, tourist boards and more.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years’ experience in an editorial or sponsored content role, with a proven track record of successfully managing both short and long-term projects. You will be organised, meticulous and as comfortable editing copy or proofreading pages as you are presenting a webinar or managing key client relationships.

This is a great opportunity to help shape the future of commercial content across Travel Weekly’s channels.

Responsibilities include:

  • Writing and editing print and online advertorials as part of creative campaigns for clients across the travel industry
  • Taking ownership of projects from start to finish, from planning and commissioning all the way to delivery, working closely with clients and the in-house production team at each step of the process
  • Planning, writing, commissioning and editing bespoke supplements, often to tight deadlines
  • Working closely with the sales team, attending client meetings and contributing to sales proposals
  • Managing an in-house writer and commissioning freelance contributors, when required
  • Overseeing multimedia projects, which include co-ordinating and presenting webinars, social media campaigns and managing online sponsored content hub
  • Writing occasional destination features and news stories, working closely with the editorial features team
  • Representing Travel Weekly across the industry, including events outside regular working hours and occasional international travel

Essential attributes:

  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create fresh, engaging and tailored content for our readers
  • Understanding of the differences between editorial and advertorial content, and ideas for new ways to engage audiences with partner content
  • Excellent organisational skills and capable of planning and delivering multiple projects simultaneously to deadline
  • Proven track record of working with clients to deliver commercial partnership projects to deadline and on budget

Desirable attributes:

  • Knowledge of the travel industry, particularly the travel trade
  • Experience of editing video and speaking on camera
  • Understanding of print and online CMS

This is a hybrid-working role including at least three days a week based in Jacobs Media’s central London office.
