Role: Reporter

Job type: Full time (office three days min per week / home base)

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000

Letsrecycle.com is part of business-to-business publisher and events provider ROAR B2B. 

Joining our editorial team, you will work on a daily news service for readers across the sectors including local authorities, the packaging industry and recycling businesses. Articles could focus on anything from government schemes for reducing waste, tackling single-use plastics or reaction stories to government data. Your duties will include building daily newsletters and speaking to people within the sector about potential stories, as well as price indexes.

The ideal candidate will have trained as a journalist, but we will consider someone from a strong communications background too. New journalism graduates are also welcome to apply.

You should be able to turn copy round quickly, have a high standard of written English and an interest in current affairs. The post will also offer opportunities for travel within the UK, the writing of features for print titles, and video/podcast interviews.

What is required to succeed as reporter:

• A proven interest in journalism
• An ability to learn complex subject matter and write concisely
• Confident in speaking with a range of potential story sources on the telephone or in person
• To have an interest in current affairs
• A good knowledge of WordPress and SEO 
• Proven writing skills
• A willingness to keep learning about the recycling and waste management sector and about the business
• The ability to put together well written stories in a timely manner work within deadlines
• A taste for fast-paced action and an agile mindset
• Be team-minded to achieve overall business goals
