The role

At ITV News Calendar, production journalists are at the heart of our news operation, working across all of our output throughout the day – on-air and online.

We have a staff position for a production journalist in our newsroom in Leeds. We are looking for people with good journalistic skills who are keen, self-starting, ideas-rich, and have a passion for local news.

The successful applicant will be hard-working, bring in lots of stories and excel at social media and online content as our digital offering is increasingly important to us. In our newsroom you will write scripts, produce bulletins, edit news pictures, assist our web curator and work on our flagship 6pm programme.

As a production journalist you will have superb organisation skills with the ability to set up all the key elements of a story for television news. You will be able to cope well under pressure and be able to meet frequent tight deadlines.

You will be a qualified journalist and be able to demonstrate your knowledge of media law. You will have first class written and verbal communications skills and be able to develop good working relationships with colleagues and contacts and local communities. You need to have good news judgment and be able to use social media skills for newsgathering and analysis. Experience using non-linear digital news editing software would also be an advantage.

So, if you thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and you possess the journalistic skills that will help us achieve our goals, we would love to hear from you.
