This role is a rare opportunity to shape the editorial direction of a trusted and influential media brand, creating an enduring impact on how Londoners engage with their city’s vibrant culture.

We are seeking a talented, driven, and culturally connected London editor to lead our editorial vision and establish Broadsheet as the UK’s most significant culture media brand.

This role requires the candidate to be based in London but will start as remote, becoming hybrid as our office base is established.

The role

The London editor will play a pivotal role in the success of Broadsheet London. As our first editorial hire in the market, you will set the tone and direction for the brand, laying the groundwork for our editorial and brand voice across written, video and social content. 

Responsibilities

  • Work with Broadsheet’s leadership team to shape the editorial vision, voice and style for the local market and establish Broadsheet as the go-to cultural authority in London.
  • Build, train and manage a best-in-class editorial team across written, video and social content.
  • Commission and write across a balanced mix of cultural topics.
  • Build a network of talented writers, photographers, and contributors in London.
  • Commission and plan Broadsheet London’s printed magazines.
  • Produce and distribute a regular newsletter.
  • Oversee the content and editorial strategy of our social and video channels. 
  • Foster relationships with London’s cultural influencers and authorities, industry leaders and PR professionals
  • Represent Broadsheet London publicly at events, on-camera, and within the broader cultural scene.

You are an editorial leader with a deep understanding of London’s culture landscape and a passion for sharing its stories. You are a creative self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, startup-like environment and has the vision and energy to build something new from the ground up.

  • Cultural insight: An in-depth knowledge of London’s cultural scene, from food and fashion to art, music and travel with a talent for identifying trends and cultural moments before they happen.
  • Editorial excellence: Exceptional writing and editing skills with a flair for creating engaging, personality-driven content.
  • Digital savvy: Experience in building and growing digital audiences through compelling storytelling and innovative distribution strategies.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to build, lead, and mentor a high-performing editorial team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment while delivering exceptional results.
  • Connected: Strong relationships with PR professionals, writers, photographers, and cultural communities in London.
  • Self-starter: Motivated, fast-paced, and capable of working autonomously in a startup-like environment.

What success looks like in the first year:

  • Establishing Broadsheet London as a recognised and leading brand in the city's cultural landscape 
  • Growing our audience and database through engaging and relevant content.
  • Developing a strong network of contributors and cultural contacts.
  • Successfully launching Broadsheet London’s first print paper and growing our digital footprint.
