Newsquest Buckinghamshire and Berkshire is recruiting a chief reporter, based in High Wycombe, to join our passionate team.

You will be a motivated, enthusiastic journalist with a nose for news and an interest in driving digital growth.

Working in the heart of south Buckinghamshire, you will be writing agenda-setting stories and high-impact journalism for our award-winning paper and website.

You will need to be flexible, have a driving licence and be a qualified senior reporter or an ambitious reporter ready for the next step.

Primary tasks

  • Supporting the management team to deliver the editorial strategy
  • Responsible for bringing in strong stories and driving the team's passion for original, high-quality local news
  • Using data and analytics to grow readers - both in print and online
  • Building the brand’s digital presence
  • Maintaining an on-the-ground point of contact for the general public and to represent the newspaper in the community

Experience and qualifications

  • Journalism degree or diploma or equivalent, Media Studies qualification or NCTJ recognised qualification is essential. A senior qualification is highly desirable
  • Print and digital experience in news media is essential
  • Driver’s licence is essential
