Mark Frith
Mark Frith has been confirmed as the new editor of Time Out, following Gordon Thomson’s departure in March.

Frith was brought only four months ago, in April, to stand in as acting editor and oversee a revamp of the publication.

"Mark has demonstrated a unquestionable understanding of the unique editorial blend of this business. His passion for evolving our print and digital content is infectious and we have big, exciting plans to exploit this. This is just the start. We’re delighted to have secured his long-term commitment at such an exciting time," said Time Out London’s managing director, Mark Elliott, in a release.

Frith’s achievements in his short time as acting editor includes overseeing a multiple-cover package that helped sell thousands of magazine from the Time Out digital shop, a visitors' guide inserted into all central London newsstand copies, a Time Out music festival at the Westfield shopping centre and editorial exclusives with Take That, Daniel Radcliffe and Blur.

Frith's career started at Smash Hits magazine where, at 23, he became an editor. From there he moved on to Sky magazine, then Heat in 2000. Under his leadership Heat’s sales sky-rocketed from 50,000 a week to more than half a million a week. Frith won nine major magazine industry awards in 10 years at the title, including the Mark Boxer Award for outstanding achievement in magazine in 2005.

He is the author of the bestselling 'The Celeb Diaries, The Sensational Inside Story Of The Celebrity Decade,' based on his time as editor of Heat. In 2008 Frith was listed in 'Who’s Who'.

His appointment as editor is effective immediately. "I've loved my time here at Time Out so far," said Frith. "It's a great magazine with an incredible history, we've got a fantastic team and I can't wait to get started in the job proper."
