Aimee Donnellan joins Acquisitions Monthly

Acquisitions Monthly has appointed Aimee Donnellan senior staff writer.

Donnellan joins the Thomson Reuters title from another of the company's financial publications, Venture Capital Journal.

She told Journalism.co.uk the main challenge of the role would be "covering a vast global beat that encompasses every industry in the world".

Donnellan began her journalism career three years ago as a staff writer with a small publishing house covering hedge funds, online gambling and captive insurance.

She went on to work for European Venture Capital Journal for 18 months after being asked to interview for the position of staff writer, and stayed on to cover the European market after the title was folded into its San Francisco sister title, Venture Capital Journal.

"My passion is politics and covering deals like Kraft/Cadburys means looking at the wider context of deals and often how a merger or acquisition will affect a country or region which is what I find really interesting," Donnellan told Journalism.co.uk.

Her advice to anyone wanting to follow a similar career path is:

"To get any job in journalism networking is key. Every job I have obtained is through a contact that I have made so if there is an organization or publication you would like to work for make sure to get to know the key people who are doing the hiring."
