Around this time last year, journalists had to respond quickly to a very new and unprecedented issue: the coronavirus pandemic.

One year later, Damian Radcliffe, Carolyn S. Chambers Professor in Journalism at the University of Oregon, provides lessons learned when reporting on covid-19, in a piece for The Thomson Reuters Foundation.

He speaks to fellow reporters around the world and shares advice useful to any journalist wherever they are based. As the virus has impacted almost every beat, he writes that it is essential to understand what you are reporting on and the context of it in the pandemic.
