What you will learn:

Session one

  • The differences and similarities between journalism and PR, with the myths dispelled.
  • What skills are you transferring and how easy is the shift?
  • Understanding the responsibilities of a PR professional, and the PR activity toolbox.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients; from understanding their needs, communicating effectively with them, setting boundaries and moving away from a newsroom approach to working.

Session two

  • How your pet PR peeves can make your pitches and press releases stand out for all the right reasons
  • Measuring success includes tracking media coverage, measuring the impact of campaigns, and knowing how to legally share coverage with clients and the world is vital but often unknown. 
  • Ethics and best practice; transparency, honesty, and conflicts of interest as well as best practices for managing PR campaigns and maintaining ethical standards.

This is an online course taking place over Zoom. There will be two sessions, each running from 10am to 11.30am GMT, on 20 and 21 June


About Natalie Trice
