
Like Digg the beta 'Huffit' feature allows readers to submit news from the web to the Post and then "huff" the stories they like best.
In an email to Huffington Post subscribers, new community manager Wendy Cohen wrote: "The most huffed news stories will appear on the front of the Huffington Post in the very near future, but first we want to give a little time for new users to get a feel for the site.
"This is your chance to become part of the editorial process."
Although in the early stages of development, HuffIt intends eventually to allows registered users to save and share favourite stories on a personalised page.
Ms Cohen added: "For those of you familiar with Digg, del.icio.us and reBlog, we were inspired by these sites and we are excited to bring similar tools to the Huffington Post community."
