The Scottish Daily Record experienced the largest circulation decrease in November
The popular press saw declines in circulation across the board in November compared to October's results, according to the latest figures released by the Audit Bureau of Circulation.
The figures published today show a 2.84 per cent decline on October for the national morning popular titles and a 1.6 per cent drop in the Sunday market.
The biggest decrease within the popular press was seen by the Scottish Daily Record, of 4.98 per cent, followed by the Sunday Mail with 4.8 per cent and the Sun with 3.36 per cent.
Within the quality titles the Independent saw the biggest month-on-month drop of 4.18 per cent, which fell to 127,873, as well as the second highest year-on-year drop of 28 per cent. This follows a transfer of bulk copies to sister title i earlier this year.
In November i recorded the highest increase in circulation across all titles of 4.86 per cent, taking it to a monthly figure of 221,736.
The Sunday Herald had the highest overall year-on-year decrease with 28.34 per cent, but saw a month-on-month rise of 2.5 per cent.
Within the daily quality newspaper market the Guardian saw the second highest decrease year-on-year of 16.3 per cent, and a month-on-month decline of 1.76 per cent to a total circulation of 226,473 in November.
