What will you be doing?

We are currently looking for a market reporter with fluency in Italian to join our global generation fuels editorial team covering European electricity markets in London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical, inquisitive, numerate and literate journalist to develop expertise in a rapidly evolving market.

You will have a passion for understanding how complex systems work and will relish the prospect of developing your skills in a role that combines data-driven analysis with traditional relationship-based reporting.

Your role will include engaging with market participants, writing news articles and market analysis, as well as assessing prices. The environment is fast-paced but values careful thought. You will enjoy collaborative work with colleagues from a range of backgrounds, many located in Argus’ other offices around the globe.

There are opportunities to travel and attend industry events, and to develop networks/specific market knowledge, as well as to present at industry conferences and lead webinar sessions.

The role would be ideally suited to a curious self-starter with an interest in the energy industry, and who enjoys cultivating sources and writing market-moving stories.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess markets to produce daily price assessments, market analysis, news and reports
  • Engage daily with the industry to ensure a close understanding of market developments through daily contact with key market figures to build relationships and gather news.
  • Contribute high-quality and original copy to the report and the online news service, following house style.
  • Help to build and curate data sets that help explain market dynamics
  • Attend meetings, conferences and industry events to build contacts, report on news and represent Argus

Skills and experience

  • Educated to bachelor’s degree level from a leading university
  • Fluency in Italian
  • Previous experience in business/data journalism or in energy markets preferred but not essential
  • Self-motivation and initiative to drive projects forward with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent writing and grammar skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build contacts with industry executives and internally.
  • Proficiency/past experience working with Excel
