Feature Story News (FSN) seeks to recruit a managing editor, Europe to a key position in the company’s management team.

The successful applicant will be an experienced, energetic manager, capable of working in a high-pace environment.

The managing editor, Europe will take on assignment-managing for all our bureaus in the region, as well as co-ordinating daily operations, forward planning and deployments.

The managing editor will also play a crucial role in our broadcast client relationships for the region. On air reporting experience is required.

Duties responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Managing FSN’s network of European bureaus
• Assigning teams to breaking stories and deployments
• Overseeing the production of packaged news reports and live operations in the field
• Liaising with broadcast client requests and bureau pitching 
• Ability to collaborate with reporters, producers, camera operators, news editors, clients
• Forward planning 
• Be open to critique, feedback, and training
• Adapt well to new technology
• Must always be available for breaking news travel and deployments across Europe, and visiting European teams and bureaus 
• Expect to work unpredictable hours, including weekends and holidays
• Rostering of European staff to align with client requirements  
• Communicating regularly with FSN’s executive leadership team
• Involvement in hiring of new staff in the Europe region 
• On air reporting for our broadcast clients 

Position requirements:

• Production and management experience with a news organisation
• Ability to assign TV news stories and features
• Ability to manage contributions to a wide range of platforms across TV, radio and digital 
• Ability to work to deadline in a fast news environment
• Ability to manage and work as part of a team
• On air reporting experience
