Sleeper Media – an industry-leading portfolio of magazines and events for the hospitality sector – is looking for an editorial assistant to support the day-to-day running of Supper

Published bi-monthly, Supper is a B2B magazine and website focusing on the food and beverage sector, taking in concept development, cuisine and the interior design of hotel restaurants and bars worldwide.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, driven individual to embark on a career in journalism, and requires a real self-starter who is hardworking, motivated and organised.

The role spans print and digital, with key responsibilities including: writing and editing industry news stories in line with Sleeper Media’s style and tone of voice; newsletter curation; selection and processing of photography; uploading to website via CMS; magazine page layouts in InDesign; sharing engaging content across various social media platforms.

Close collaboration with the advertising team to support paid partnerships is also an important part of the role, as is the ability to network and build relationships with PRs and industry players.

There are opportunities to travel both within the UK and overseas, primarily to represent the company at conferences and trade fairs.

The position would suit a recent graduate educated to degree level or above in journalism, media studies, English or similar, an NCTJ graduate or a staff writer with 1-2 years’ experience looking for a new challenge.

Accuracy, attention to detail and high standard of written English are essential, while a proven interest in food and drink, hospitality and design will also stand applicants in good stead.

The successful candidate will be organised, self-motivated and willing to work flexibly to maintain the high standards we have established over 25 years in trade publishing. They must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a minimum of three days per week from our offices in Stockport.

Our offices are located in Strawberry Studios, Stockport – where bands including The Smiths, The Stone Roses, and Joy Division started their careers – and have an informal, friendly atmosphere.
